Enterprise hub opens up in Cambridge
June 27th, 2009 | by Amy EdwardsCambridge is home to a new networking initiative that will incorporate virtual services with serviced office space. “Start Cambridge” has been designed to cater for virtual workers and start-up companies, offering them access to resources including a network of
UK entrepreneurs.
The opening forms part of a wider national scheme which has already seen similar projects in Bristol, Harwell,
Fareham,
Woolwich and
Dartford. With 175 companies already involved it looks like the idea has been a success so far. Each company will have access to academic and funding contacts.
The principal backer of the scheme, local architect Roger Perrin thinks that the right working environment will have a huge bearing on the quality of work produced and the level of productivity.
He said…”The Start Anywhere concept is ideally suited to the current business climate and a Cambridge economy that is increasingly linked to national and global markets via virtual social networks”
It is great to see that despite the downturn, individuals like Roger are making an effort to assist new and potentially new companies to move forward.
