Tesco to offer serviced office space
April 1st, 2008 | by Amy Edwards
Supermarket giant Tesco are to offer serviced office space in a bid to engage the business community in the UK in a move that will have office space companies such as Regus worried.
Tesco will offer serviced offices initially at eighteen of its London and surrounding area stores (including
Reading -Ed). Seven of these stores are ‘Tesco Extras’ which means that they usually offer more than double the space of a traditional Tesco supermarket. Tesco will also offer Virtual Office services from a number of its 735 ‘Tesco Express’ outlets in a bid to engage the ever-growing start-up business community.
Its believed that some of the larger Tesco stores could house up to 30 medium-sized offices that will allow businesses to rent office space at much-reduced rates compared to other serviced office providers.
Following on from several additions to the Tesco product range such as car and home insurance, this move is one of the first that engages the business community direct, rather than appealing to consumers only.
Tesco’s business partnership manager, Hugh Guoke, explains
“In a bid to engage the start-up business community and not leave them out in the cold in small home offices, we decided to offer this service so that they become a part of the local community. It is a great way for start-ups to make themselves aware to local communities and to build relationships with local consumers and other businesses.”
Choregus will be watching this exciting and bold move and reporting upon any progression that occurs.

This is great news for me. I have looked at serviced offices recently and there hasnt been one office that I thought I could business from passers by or people in the area.
I would definitely consider using a tesco office!

Wonder how much the offices would be on a virgin flight? How would the seats work? Would it be safe enough? Internet would be cool, but I dont think that many people would do that much work on a flight?

That’s nothing, we’re teaming up with Lidel to offer cut-price European style ‘Bureaus’ on a time-share throughout the UK, with free access to frankfurters and discount vegetables.

Never mind the big corporations – I have used regus etc but its the growing providers such as global-virtualoffice.com etc who offer a reasonable service.
