Thomson Reuters search for 200,000 square feet in Canary Wharf
December 14th, 2009 | by Amy EdwardsThomson Reuters have launched a search for 200,000 square feet of office space in Canary Wharf.
The news and information giant is consolidating from it’s City buildings, occupied by the former Thomson Group, into a building closer to Reuters’ 283,000 square feet Dockland HQ. Reuters was bought by Thomson Group in May 2007 and currently resides at 30 South Colonnade, E14. Likely properties for the relocation include Canary Wharf Group’s 5 Churchill Place, sold this week for £208 million, and Fimalac’s 328,000 square feet at 30 North Colonnade.
The Thomson arm of the firm occupies almost 200,000 square feet in the City, including 56,000 square feet at Aldgate House, 50,000 square feet at 1 Mark Square, 46,000 square feet at 71-80 Hatton Garden and 42,000 square feet at 58-64 City Road, EC1.
CB Richard Ellis’ Managing Director of City agency and Canary Wharf, Dan Roberts, said; “Canary Wharf is continuing to see healthy levels of interest from occupiers, from within the estate as well as from new occupiers. For the larger active requirements, there are now very few available options, and even some competition for space on some properties”.
Thomson Reuters is being advised by Cushman & Wakefield.
